Hakuchou....... About us.
Hakuchou meaning the White Bird or Swan is a not for profit, volunteer run, Martial Arts Academy that hold Martial Arts classes covering 3 disciplines of Japanese Martial Arts, Karate, Kendo and Iaido in South Wales.
Hakuchou Karate Kai is a Wado Ryu karate style covering all aspects of Wado Ryu karate.
Hakuchou Kendo Kai is a Katana (sword) based club, covering both aspects of Kendo and Iaido.
Kendo Introduction Course
Due to the nature of Kendo, we run a group Kendo Introductory course 3 x annually.
The aim of the course is to teach the fundamentals of Kendo and allow the students to develop their basic movements.
So, on completion of the 6 week course the students will have an understanding of Kendo and be able participate in the main classes.
Courses take place three times annually.
January, Easter and September.
The next Kendo Introduction Course will commence on Tuesday 7th April 2026 at 19.15hrs at the LC2 Swansea, SA1 3ST.

The cost of the course is £35 which covers your annual membership of the club,
with the first introductory session being FREE.

Tuesday
evening 19.30-21.00 Kendo (Studio A).
Wednesday Evening 19.30-21.00 Karate (Studio A).
Thursday
evening 19.30-21.00 Kendo Keiko (Studio A) .
Sunday
morning 10.00-12noon Kendo (Main Hall).

Monthly Courses and Seminars.
Hakuchou Martial Arts Academy run monthly seminars for members and attend other organised seminars throughout the UK run by our Friends and fellow Martial Artists.
